Vaping
Many people use vaping to help them stop smoking while others turn to vaping without ever having smoked cigarettes. Either way, most vapers find themselves similarly addicted to the behaviour and feeling of security that the vaping habit creates.
The other issue is that unlike smoking, which is restricted in society and often in your home, vaping seems possible in most places. As a result, instead of discrete vaping events, you may find that you are vaping continuously throughout the day. This can feel difficult to stop.
The physical addiction to nicotine in vapes is relatively easy to tackle compared to breaking the habit of vaping. The unconscious mind likes familiar behaviour, or habits, because it knows exactly what’s going to happen and so deems it safe, even if that familiar behaviour, or habit, is unwanted and is known to be damaging to health. This means alternative or unfamiliar behaviour, for example “not vaping”, seems threatening to the unconscious part of your mind. It will try everything to get you back to the familiar or “safe” behaviour, even though consciously you don’t want to because you know it’s damaging your health and needlessly costing you money that could be spent in other more vital or enjoyable ways.
Hypnotherapy can address the unconscious part of your mind that believes the vaping behaviour is “safe” behaviour so that both conscious and unconscious beliefs, as well as desires for the future, are aligned. Hypnotherapy encourages the unconscious part of the mind to search for and deal with the reasons for vaping. It also helps the change of behaviour to “not vaping” become more acceptable and so much easier.
