All my life and for as long as I can remember I have been petrified of dogs. My parents tell me I was never bitten or experienced an attack by one so I could never really understand my fear. I realised this fear was increasingly impacting on my daily life and interests as I would have to avoid certain public areas such as parks, pubs, country walking routes, friends’ houses etc. in case I would come in contact with a dog. I also found walking past a dog on a lead difficult. My ambition is to become a district nurse so with daily patient visits it was evident that I would come into contact with dogs at homes. Following my career decision I realised I needed to try and overcome my dog fear. A few friends suggested that I should have hypnotherapy sessions to help me but I was never sure they could cure a lifelong fear. However, I decided to try hypnotherapy sessions with David. The first appointment I had with David I thought was very professional and he took the time to do a thorough assessment of my fear and background. Following assessment the hypnotherapy began which involved listening to calming music and specialist vocal techniques that enabled me to focus on my fear and rectify it. David suggested that I needed five of these sessions which I did. The results are incredible, I now feel comfortable walking past a dog, I have visited friends and patients houses with dogs and I generally feel so much more relaxed around dogs. My friends and family cannot believe the change in me. The picture is evidence! I cannot thank David enough for helping me and highly recommend him to anyone seeking help with a fear or phobia. - Pippa Dixon.
